Army Lodge at Fort Benning
Fort Benning, Georgia
The new Army Lodge at Ft. Benning blends perfectly with the historical mission styles from the end of the 19th century and helps to shape the community in a way that is meaningful to the residents. The 457,500 SF, 860-room Army Lodge achieved an important LEED "Gold" certification.
This project includes a new 860-room Lodge with porte-cochere, main entry/lobby, front desk area, breakfast and food storage/prep room, in-house laundry areas, and “back of house” spaces such as maintenance shops, administration, and storage areas. The project included all site work, parking, sidewalks, utilities, roadway improvements, and construction necessary to provide a complete and useable Lodge facility, with a separate 2,000 square foot Grounds Building.
The cast in place concrete building structure utilizes the tunnel form system design that allowed placement of 4,000 SF of slab per day. This system integrates the load bearing wall and slab in each concrete placement allowing rapid construction of the structural frame while meeting strict progressive collapse and blast hardening requirements.
