Project Manager

Paul J. Ford & Company is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the Buildings Group in the Columbus, Ohio office.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and execute projects within the objectives, schedule and budget of the contract.
  • Strong ability to communicate and manage multiple clients.
  • Participate in responding to RFP’s, setting of project budgets, schedules, and identifying labor resources for projects.
  • Develop project task lists in conjunction with the defined project scope of work.
  • Answer questions and give daily guidance to team members.
  • Review the work of team members to assure the accuracy and quality.
  • Promote use of and participate in the development of company production standards.
  • Review billing reports before invoicing and assist in collection of past-due accounts receivable.

Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects of various sizes simultaneously.

Project Engineer

Paul J. Ford & Company is seeking a licensed (P.E.) Project Engineer in our Columbus, Ohio Office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs structural engineering design calculations and prepares structural engineering documents.
  • Performs structural engineering designs in accordance with applicable Building Codes and Standards.
  • Maintains effective communication with clients, architects, contractors, team members, and others during projects on a regular basis.
  • Directs CAD technicians in the production of drawings.
  • Manages multiple projects on a regular basis in a fast-paced environment to produce projects on time and on budget.
  • Attends client meetings, and travels to project sites for assessing field conditions and observations.

Candidates must be capable of performing structural analysis on various building elements and materials including, but not limited to, light gage metal framing, reinforced concrete, structural steel, wood, and reinforced masonry. Since this position requires working directly with clients, candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess a professional demeanor at all times, and have the ability to work well with others in a team environment. In addition, this position may require frequent travel to assess existing field conditions, perform field services prior to design, and field observations during construction. Candidate must be willing and able to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and client requirements.

Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least five (5) years of experience in structural design. Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and have passed the Professional Engineering Exam and be a licensed professional engineer (P.E.).

Structural Designer

Paul J. Ford & Company is seeking a Structural Designer for the Columbus, Ohio office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform structural design calculations for new telecommunications structures and foundations.
  • Perform structural analysis calculations for existing telecommunications structures and foundations.
  • Perform structural modification design and analysis for existing telecommunications structures and foundations.
  • Read, analyze and understand the specific project scope of the work.
  • Attend and perform site visits when needed.
  • Work with licensed engineers to review and revise the calculations and designs as needed.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of proposals.
  • Have the ability to assist other departments as needed.

Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structures and two to five years of experience, or be a recent graduate with advance knowledge in concrete and steel design. A licensed PE is preferred but not required. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Project Coordinator

Paul J. Ford & Company is seeking a Project Coordinator for the Columbus, Ohio office.

Position Summary:

The Project Coordinator is responsible for all general administrative support to the engineers to ensure successful completion of assigned projects. Responsible for tracking project deliverables and monitoring due dates. Provide regular and timely reports as directed by Management. Acts as the liaison between all employees and clients, keeping the lines of communication open and coordinate between all departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Tracksthe status of projects by working closely with engineers and by updating project tracker on a regular basis.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding the status of the project.
  • Schedule and track shipments and report the status to clients.
  • Ensure purchase orders are obtained from clients.
  • Identify, assess, and recommend improvement opportunities that will add value.
  • Maintain accurate records for all service agreements.
  • Set-up all projects and other similar documents in InFocus.
  • Create, maintain, and update filing system.
  • Complete, process and file documents such as purchase orders, lien waivers, job related correspondence, and other required information.
  • Assist the Accounting Department with work in progress reviews, billing, and invoices.
  • Maintain and update company owned software/database.
  • Gather information and assist the Engineering Manager in completing RFQs/RFPs.
  • Assist in marketing needs and support.
  • Communicate and support PJF Services initiatives including project related tasks.
  • Handle assigned correspondence between general contractor, owner, and architect.
  • Provide back-up phone coverage for receptionist.
  • Perform special projects and other reasonably related business duties as requested and delegated.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures as stated in the current PJF Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of administrative, office or project coordination experience.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to learn a variety of project management applications.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize large volumes of information.
  • Knowledge of basic Accounting principles.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Detailed oriented and a high level of degree of accuracy for data entry.
